ALGOTECH champions AI, Cybersecurity and Youth Entrepreneurship

The Faculty of Science at the University of Dschang hosted a major conference organised by the ALGOTECH Computer Science Club under the high patronage of Prof. Mofor Teugwa Clotilde, Dean of the Faculty of Science. The event, held at the Joseph Fondjo Auditorium , brought together lecturers, students and young innovators around a theme that reflects today’s digital realities: “Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity: Pillars of Young and Sustainable Entrepreneurship.”

The conference was supervised by Prof. Nkenlifack Marcelin, Head of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science, while Prof. Kengne Tchendji Vianney, an Associate professor, served as moderator. Their leadership gave the event both academic depth and institutional value, confirming the University of Dschang’s growing commitment to innovation, technology and entrepreneurship.

The panel brought together five speakers with complementary perspectives. M. Edmé Gabin Djeudji Tchemgoum focused on youth entrepreneurship and the need for young people to develop initiative, creativity and resilience. M. Fopa Kuete Duclair addressed the opportunities and challenges that artificial intelligence and cybersecurity present for young entrepreneurs. M. Ramses Brice Tchamou shared experience drawn from his work in microservices, cloud computing and full stack development, offering participants a practical view of international digital careers. M. Ngoma Etoga Cosmas Klaus discussed how artificial intelligence and digital entrepreneurship can generate concrete impact in Cameroon. M. Swi Innocent Che completed the panel with a contribution on automation, intelligent AI and the construction of evolving workflows for young graduates.

The discussions centred on the way artificial intelligence is reshaping entrepreneurship and how cybersecurity has become a non-negotiable requirement in the digital economy. The speakers stressed that technology is no longer reserved for experts or large firms; it is now a tool that young people can use to build businesses, solve problems and create value. They also highlighted the fact that innovation without security is fragile, and that every digital initiative must be built on trust, protection of data and responsible use of technology.

For the University of Dschang, the conference was beneficial on several levels. It strengthened the institution’s image as a place where theory is linked to practical innovation and where students are encouraged to think beyond the classroom. It also exposed learners to professionals and experts whose experiences can inspire research, careers and entrepreneurial ambitions. In addition, the event helped reinforce a culture of digital competence, collaboration and innovation within the university community, thereby contributing to its academic and technological visibility.

The take-home messages from the conference were clear and powerful. Young people must not only consume technology; they must learn to create with it. Artificial intelligence should be seen as a strategic asset for productivity, innovation and problem-solving. Cybersecurity must be understood as a foundational skill in every digital project. Above all, sustainable entrepreneurship requires knowledge, adaptability, discipline and a strong sense of purpose.

In the end, the ALGOTECH conference at the University of Dschang stood out as more than an academic gathering. It was a platform for reflection, inspiration and action, sending a strong message to students and young professionals: the future of entrepreneurship belongs to those who can innovate intelligently, secure their digital environment and transform ideas into impact./NLA
