Workshop comes to an end
Dschang SIC/UDs-10/11/16. The training seminar for Italian language teachers in Cameroon universities and government secondary schools which took place from the 9th to the 10th of November 2016 came to an end at the University of Dschang. The capacity reinforcement seminar which marks the end of activities for the 16thedition of the Italian week in the world was highly lauded by participants and university management held at the University auditorium. Organised in collaboration with the University of Siena in Italy, the representative of the University, Dr Siebetcheu during the ceremony reiterated that the University of Siena and the University of Dschang had built a relationship for over 20 years and expressed satisfaction for the collaboration on the academic and cultural platform. The Dean of the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences, Prof Tsalefac Maurice in his speech presented the course work under taken during the seminar and emphasized that the Italian discipline had been on-going in the Faculty since 2002.The Dean stated that the inter cooperation ties between the universities were stronger and that lecturers from the University of Yaoundé I, Maroua, the Catholic University of Central Africa, Douala and over 20 lecturers from secondary schools with 51 expected participants graced the workshop. The Vice Chancellor, Prof Tsafack Roger Nanfosso in his speech expressed satisfaction that the reinforcement of capacity was important to the institution as it fosters better cooperation ties with Italy. He lauded the Ambassador for the unflinching support in the evolution of the Italian language in Cameroon and added that there was need to boost the multidimensional cooperation through the exchange of lecturers and students between the two nations. To conclude, the representative of the Italian Ambassador, Mr Danilo Giurdanella, 1st adviser to the Ambassador in his closing remarks said the collaboration is firm at the transfer of competence. He seized the opportunity to state that the Italian government had created an agency for international cooperation and had doubled its funds to promote development as well as an Italian network in Cameroon. The ceremony witnessed the award of attestations to participants. This seminar will not only boost the Italian language in Cameroon but also foster relations between the two countries/
