PARALYMPIC GAMES UNFOLD

It was an interesting match at the University of Dschang Gymnasium where the paralympic discipline of table tennis came into play on the 8th of May 2019. Different from ordinary table tennis in that it has just the simple female and male categories. the group match, quarter finals, semi-finals and the finals were all played on the same day. At the end of the day, the University of Douala held tight to their first position with gold medal in the male and female categories achieved as in the previous year. The ambiance felt in Paralympics table tennis was equally witnessed in other Paralympic competitions like athletes (shot put, javeline, and aerodynamic wheel chair race); and power lifting in its male and female categories. At the end of the games IUS came overall first in Paralympics while UDo and UDs grasped the 2nd and 3rd positions respectively. An interesting fact worth remembering about this year’s paralympics games is the increased number of competing institutions which, according to the technical manager of Paralympic sports in Dschang, Mr. Ngatsebai Zedek is due to the interest now shown by private institutions like The National School of Public Works and the IUS in the games. The parlaympic competition has indeed drawn its curtains for this edition with a general impression of satisfaction been revealed. A sport for differently able who have been able to prove their worth in various domains there is no doubt that discipline will continue to produce icons who will represent the nation at large even at the international levels./
