IUTENT conference Kicks off

Developing a better technological spectrum

Bandjoun-UDs/SIC-19/12/17. Under the patronage of the Minister of Higher Education of Cameroon, the 2nd International Conference organized by the Cameroon University Institutes of Technology and the Alsace region of France, IRCOD and Local Businesses kicked off at the campus of the University Institute of Technology Fotso Victor in grand style. The 3-day international conference which started at 11.30 am  brought together university institutes of technology, colleges of technology, enterprises and scientists is aimed at encouraging and providing collaborative interdisciplinary research on innovative engineering technologies. This platform is an exceptional opportunity for exchanges between engineers and scientists from the world on issues of engineering sciences. Present at this occasion was the SDO of the Koung-Khi division, the Vice President of the Senate; the Mayor of Pete –Banjoun amongst other key dignitaries. After the Director of UIT/FV, Prof Fogue Medard presented the institute, the 2nd  Assistant Mayor Helene Fokoua in her welcome speech saluted the hosting of the conference in the prestigious town of Bandjoun and highlighted that it was a solid platform for resolutions on how to better empower the students of the institutions and the youths technologically.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof Roger Tsafack Nanfosso on his part during his opening speech expressed satisfaction as the institution hosted for the first time the International conference. He also stated that the institution held it 1st Directive Council meeting after 25years of creation. The VC called on participants of the conference to use the conference to structure out proposals geared towards developing the technological spectrum of the nation. Prof Nanfosso, stated with delight the creation of an additional Faculty to the University of Dschang (Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical sciences on Nov 24th by Presidential decree) and emphasized on the slated date for its competitive entrance examination was   January 14th 2018 and having 50 medical and 25 pharmacist posts opened. He assured participants that the conference will introduce new technological developments which will meet the needs of the present and the future and provide decisive contribution to the consolidation of collaboration between higher technological institutions and enterprises.

 The ceremony continued with the presentation on the new employment opportunities by the Director of National Employment Fund of the West Region, M Tekapso after which the dignitaries visited the technological exposition gallery before the various workshops kick started/.
