UDs and Orange Cameroun

Dschang,UDs/SIC-18/05/18. The 9 page accord and annex with specific clauses defined the areas of partnership between the University of Dschang and Orange Cameroun for the promotion of digitalization and promotion of entrepreneurship. The partnership tends to facilitate university activities through sponsorship, tuition payment, promotion of entrepreneurship, professional assistant and individual development through the Orange Master Programme, the promotion of data package for the laptops offered by the Head of State to the students and internship offers among others. The Chancellery hall on the 18th May 2018 at 10.00 am witnessed the signing of the partnership agreement between Orange Cameroun and the University of Dschang. The event brought together the Director General Mr Federic Debord and a delegation from Orange Cameroun, members of the Chancellery Council and the press. This partnership agreement can be traced back since 27th April 2018 when the Minister of Higher Education and the DG of Orange signed an agreement framework in view or promoting digitalization in Cameroonian universities. The aim of the convention among others is to support the effective use of the Presidential gift of laptops by the Head of State. It’s worthy to mention that the University of Dschang is the first University to sign this partnership agreement with Orange Cameroun. This union to foster digital transformation in the country is geared towards bringing innovative solutions to the University community. The DG of Orange in his speech stated that the team was ready to ensure all kick starts well “Orange Cameroun is conscious and willing to meet up to the challenge. Orange Cameroun on its part will do everything…favourable for the University community.”

The Vice Chancellor on his part during the Ceremony highlighted that Orange Cameroun’s 2000 vision “ the Future is bright” was in consonance with the aspirations of the University and as such  was very optimistic of the partnership. He thanked the new Orange Cameroun‘s Director General and his dynamic team for meeting up with 2010 institutional slogan of getting close to the essentials  and starting up this vision with the leading institution in Cameroon and Central Africa. The VC said the University was accomplishing its role in training, research and support to development through this partnership. Prof Roger Tsafack highlighted with delight the presence of the 4G network in Bertoua and Ebolowa that host some disciplines of the University. The Boss indicated that the partnership was timely and indicated that the 2018/2019 academic year was packed with lots of cultural and sporting activities especially the 2019 University games scheduled to take place in Dschang. He stated that rehabilitation and the construction of new structures was paramount for such an event and as such requested orange Cameroun for assistance in the construction of an orange multisport stadium, an orange opera, an orange amphitheater of 2000 seats and an orange intra transport system. In the aspect of support for development, the Vice Chancellor indicated that the University Foundation and Cati2 were in place to accompany Orange achieve its desired goal in the institution. Prof Roger Tsafack wished that Orange Cameroun can start making its presence on campus felt through participating actively in the forth coming events such as solemn reopening and matriculation ceremony, proclamation of results, conferences among others. He concluded by saying the institution was ready to work hand in gloves with orange Cameroun to attain its vision of digitalization and development of business. The first phase of the ceremony ended with the signing of the partnership agreement, an exchange session between the two groups and a family picture to immortalize the union./
