Prof Jacques FAME Ndongo Charts Bold Path for Cameroon’s Higher Education in 2026

‎YAOUNDE –During Friday’s New Year wishes ceremony, of 30th January 2025, Professor Jacques Fame Ndongo, Minister of State for Higher Education and Chancellor of Academic Orders, unveiled a transformative roadmap for Cameroon’s universities. Speaking at the University of Yaoundé I’s Amphi 700 in the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences, he lauded lecturers, administrators, and leaders for their dedication in strengthening the national higher education landscape.

‎The minister highlighted four core priorities for 2026:

‎Complete digitalization of universities, including digital campuses and innovation hubs.

‎Elevated academic quality with international recognition of degrees.

‎Stronger ties between training and employment emphasizing practical skills and student entrepreneurship over theory alone.

‎Enhanced inclusion and good governance to foster equity and excellence.

‎Professor Fame Ndongo stressed the need for responsible, innovative, and patriotic students. He reaffirmed President Paul Biya’s commitment to youth education amid global challenges, positioning higher education as Cameroon’s engine for development and emergence.

The University of Dschang stood out, with newly promoted teaching staff exchanging handshakes with the Minister led by the Council Chair and Rector of the University of Dschang,followed by Rectoral council members, and key dignitaries, the institution ensured robust participation in this  solemn event.
