Decentralization, Dencontration and local development as theme rallies over 400 participants

Dschang,UDs/SIC 26/10/22. The Center for Studies and Research in Management and Economics (CERME) of the Faculty of Economics and Management kick started today, 26 th October 2022, a 3-day international colloquium on the theme “Decentralization, Dencontration and Local development” which rallied over 400 participants, 29 lecturers and researchers and supported by over 20 partners. With 11 workshops and 3 plenary sessions programmed for the event, the opening ceremony was marked with speeches geared towards highlighting the value of such a theme in the country’s present dispositions. During the ceremony, the Dean of the Faculty of Management and President of the Local Organizing Committee, Prof Georges Wandji stated in his welcome word that such a key colloquium was under the patronage of MINESUP and reiterated that participants should avail themselves to brainstorm on decentralized localities and a platform to formulate propositions for policy synergy on local development.

The Mayor of Dschang, Jacquis Kamleu in his welcome speech highlighted the role and realizations of the Dschang council as well as the development trends on decentralization, deconcentration and local development. He called on the participants to value the colloquium and make nobles recommendation for the cause.

During the launching speech of the Vice Chancellor, represented by the Deputy Vice Chancellor in Charge of Internal Control and Evaluation, Prof Wansi Slyvie Lea, highlighted that the scientific gathering was a tradition to host debates with interdisciplinary stakeholders on themes centered on development. She reiterated that participants should brainstorm appropriately, streamline possible policies for the state on decentralization, deconcentration and local development. The representative of the Minister of State, Minister of Higher education, the Technical Adviser No1 Prof Jean Paul Mbia his appreciation remarks, underscored the entrepreneurial and professional structure of the institution which has earned it many accolades nationally and internationally. He insisted on the need to be resourceful and explore all venues for the development of the country. A tour was made after the end of the ceremony to the various stands at the esplanade of the conference center and a family picture taken to immortalize the vent.

The first plenary session took place immediately on the theme support of stakeholders in the process of decentralization, deconcentration and local development to be followed by 5 workshop session for day 1.
