Dschang, UDs/SIC–21/02/2019. The University of Dschang in a bid to strengthen its cooperation ties with foreign Universities will be receiving a delegation from the University of Cologne, Germany at its Dschang campus from the 21st to the 23rd of February 2019.The five man delegation headed by Prof. Dr. Konrad BROCKMEIER will equally have Dr. h.c (RUS) Christoph STOSCH, Dr. Benjamin KOCKEMANN, PD Dr. Filomain NGUEMO and Mr. Johannes BROCKMEIER all from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Cologne. During the fact finding mission, the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dschang, Prof. Tsafack Nanfosso and his team of Chancellery board members will accompany the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences/UDs to build cooperation strategies, and clarify the role and responsibilities of each party all for the benefit of the University of Dschang. Practical demonstration of inter-professional skill development, lecture on the structure and curriculum of medical education at the University of Cologne, a campus tour and a visit at the Dschang District hospital and other facilities of the University of Dschang are equally on program.

It is worth noting that the University of Dschang have been harnessing great collaboration ties with the University of Cologne thanks to Dr. Filomain Nguemo, former student of the University of Dschang and initiator of the University partnership between Cameroon/ Cologne and principal investigator at the Center of Physiology and Pathophysiology at the faculty of Medicine, Cologne. The fact that the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmaceutical Sciences is at the limelight during this trip stems from the proceeds of an addendum signed by the Vice Chancellor/UDs Prof. Tsafack Nanfosso and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Cologne Dr. Axel Freimuth on September 8th 2017 at Cologne indicating the accompaniment to be provided by the University of Cologne to other faculties and especially to this newly created faculty. The addendum being a special clause to support the existing Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two institutions in 2015, equally provides projects to be implemented in order to alleviate the cooperation in conformity with the general provisions previewed.

There is therefore no doubt that the University of Cologne being one of the 11 universities of excellence among 100 Universities in Germany doing research and a leading country in the European Union will through its partnership with UDs play a big role in satisfying the University of Dschang’s craving for excellence./GC
