2nd Sporting and Cultural gala closes the academic year

 The DCOU called upon to revive the competitive spirit

Dschang, UDs/SIC-27/07/22.The 2nd edition of the sports and cultural gala to mark the end of the 2021/2022 academic year kicked off in grand style at the flag mast of the esplanade of the university auditorium. The event which was presided over by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Roger Tsafack Nanfosso had in attendance members of the chancellery board, staff of the DCOU, and athletes of various disciplines as well as cultural and artistic groups. During the ceremony, the DCOU, Mr. Zie Zie Gothard in his welcome word, thanked the Vice Chancellor for his unflinching support for sporting and cultural activities in the campus. He assured the head of the institution and members of the university community that despite the COVID pandemic, the university athletes and Cultural groups were prepared for any eventual sporting rendezvous.

A tour followed suit to the different sporting and artistic disciplines such as plastic arts, sprinting unit, table tennis, volley ball, hand ball, basketball, judo and football respectively to the amazement of the members of the Chancellery board. The second phase of the event was handled by the fans club who displayed their electric dancing skills as well as the university choir leaving the audience spell bound with their angelic voices. The ballet group from the Fine Arts Institute of Foumban crowned the day with a choreography displaying the northern Fulani culture.

During his closing remarks, the Vice Chancellor, Prof Roger Tsafack Nanfosso stated that “I am proud to see this, it is a new beginning”. He called the Directorate of Student’s Welfare and the athletes to rise up to key future sporting occasions and revive sporting and artistic talents. The VC equally reassured the athletes of renewed sports infrastructure to ensure that all went well. The event ended with the last fitness walk for the academic year 2021/2022. /
