2nd Edition of the Inter school Games
Faculty of Science emerges with General trophy
Dschang-UDs/SIC-10/01/18.The 2nd edition of the inter school games organized by the University of Dschang came to an end on the 10th of January 2018. The cultural and sporting jamboree that spiced the university’s environs brought together over 13 sporting delegations for the first time with 6 private higher Institutes of Learning alongside the faculties of the University. Tuesday 9th January saw some semifinalist in collective sports and the finals in Judo and wrestling disciplines. The closing ceremony of the inters-school games was witnessed by the VC, representatives of the Senior Divisional Officer and the Divisional Officer, divisional delegates, representatives of private institutions of learning, as well university dignitaries and students. After the kickoff of the different sporting disciplines, the Vice-chancellor and his entourage headed for the catapult stadium to witness the finals of the Men’s football encounter opposing the Faculty of Letters and Social Sciences and the Higher Institute of Management (ISG). The games ended in favour of FLSH 2-1 as meritorious trophies were handed to the winners of various disciplines by authorities present. The various fans clubs animated the event with electric display of dance moves to crown the occasion.
The Faculty of Sciences was crowned champions with 7 gold medals, 6 silver and 1 bronze medal. It excelled in the Olympic sports with gold in the male and female category in athletics, basketball, female football and male handball category. It also proved its talent by grabbing first position in photography and was 2nd runners up in the Miss competition. The faculty had talented players in various disciplines; Nguegni Christelle and Fofie Njoya Ahmed emerged as best players in both basketball categories and Tongue Kanga Davy in the men’s handball category. It is worthy to state that the Faculty of Sciences was voted best sporting delegation and lifted the general trophy of the 2nd edition of the inter school games for 2017/2018.
