9th Edition of the Inter -Structures Championship officially launches the new sporting jamboree
After a comprehensive tour of the stands showcasing innovative projects ,scientific displays during the Scientific and Cultural Week, anticipation filled the air as the sporting jamboree was about to commence.
The event which kick starts the 9th edition of the inter structure championship officially launches the sporting season which had kick started some weeks ago promising to be a celebration of athleticism, teamwork, and community spirit. With the sporting season already kick started in all the disciplines, it was time for the non-teaching and teaching staff to join the sporting jamboree in the slated two disciplines (football men and handball women).
As such the Kick-off of the Inter-structure championship with a football march opposing the Specialized Central services against the Faculty of Agronomy and Agricultural Sciences in the two disciplines.
During the opening ceremony, Mr. Zie Gothard, the Director of Students’ Welfare, took the stage to deliver an inspiring address. His words resonated deeply with the audience, as he expressed gratitude towards the Rector for his unwavering support for sports and physical development within the institution. He highlighted the importance of sports in educational institutions, emphasizing not only physical fitness but also the social skills and resilience that come from participating in team sports. An oath taking segment followed suit after the march pass of all the faculties and sporting segments of the University indicating the adhesion to regulations for the smooth follow up of the championship.
The Rector of the University represented by the Secretary General ,Prof Moupou Moïse in his closing speech underscored that ,the sporting activities have been kick started in Dschang, we appreciate the Students’ Welfare Directorate that has ensured its effective beginning and also to the entire university community. He lauded the participation of staff and hopes it will be a platform for effective social cohesion,
The kick off ended with a stalemate (0-0) at the football match while the Specialised Central Services won 10-6 against the FAS in the female handball competition.
