21 projects  scrutinized at UDs

Dschang,UDs/SIC-13/07/20 The University of Dschang joined the struggle for a Nation-wide development project on the 10th of July 2020 at the Campus auditorium under the caption “call for projects in the minerals development sector in Cameroon”. The Support Center for Technology, Innovation and Incubation of the University of Dschang (CATI 2 UDs) launched this program in partnership with the ACP Program- EU in favour of development minerals implemented by the United Nations Development Program and the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Development. The programme  which started at 10 am ,coordinated by Prof. Tchamba Martin had the aim of supporting the creation and development of artisan and small scale mining enterprises to improve employability and reduce vulnerability of young people and women through the promotion of innovative wealth creating activities in the minerals development sector. It is a Nation-wide struggle to which the University of Dschang has made herself part of as the country strives to be an emergent Nation by 2035. The call for ideas focuses on young Cameroonians age 15 to 35. During the event Prof. Tchamba Martin welcomed and saluted the presence of his collaborators. A pre-selection of project ideas had short listed 124 out of the 835 that were initially received. These opportunities it must not be forgotten were open to students of the University of Dschang; the main campus as well as other campuses for students and youths of its environs. The most important criteria for selection was the conception of an innovative idea which must not be more than two years old. The aim is to foster entrepreneurship that will promote long term development.

Out of the 124 projects preselected, the team had later selected 40 but on this day 19 were scrutinized, censored and approved. An important aspect that did not pass unnoticed was the fact that the selection was gender neutral as 40% of the female projects presented were selected ensuring that different campuses were represented in both French and English language. This exercise that ended up at mid-day left every one present satisfied as the University of Dschang spearheads the struggle for an emergent Cameroon by 2035. An excerpt of the talk with the media from the program coordinator Prof. Tchamba Martin says “The intention of the University of Dschang is to promote entrepreneurial ship not just for students but also for the youths around the different localities of the Campus’ environs. The goal he says is to retain 10 projects and give them a start off fund to carry on. The task brought a lot of visibility and recognition for the University of Dschang both at the National and International levels under the watchful eyes of the V.C Prof. Roger Tsafack Nanfosso. L.D
